Waterfalls at Nymfes

A place of unique beauty unfolds before you as you reach the waterfalls of Nymfes.
The legend has it that the village took its name from the Greek Mythological Creatures, Nymfes, Fairies of the forest of divine nature and unparallel beauty, who danced and sang along Pan God and bathed in the waterfalls naked.

Waterfalls at Kyprianades

The second largest waterfall on the island of Corfu, right after the waterfall in Nymfes, is the Waterfall in Kyprianades, which is of about 8 meters high. It is created by an affluent of the Tyflos River, the creek of Klimatia, which passes outside the village of Kyprianades (about 1500m outside) on its course towards the north Ionian Sea. The access to the Waterfall of Kyprianades is relatively easy.

KASSIOPI

Kassiopi is a charming town situated on a small peninsula on the North-East corner of the island of Corfu, 36 km north of Corfu Town and Corfu airport. It is the largest village in the northeast of the island and is unique amongst Corfu’s resorts in having both touristic and historical interest.

This resort is a colorful place reached by picturesque coastal roads. It shares the same northern coastline as Sidari, Roda and Acharavi. It is an attractive town with traditional narrow streets and is overlooked by the ruins of an ancient castle. Once a quiet fishing village, the resort has been transformed into a popular holiday destination. The beautiful village has been visited by many famous personalities, such as Neronas - the King of Rome who set up the baths of Kassiopi.

Kassiopi, with its little square, is today the focal point of the towns social life by day and night. There are numerous restaurants serving traditional dishes as well as Mexican, Chinese and Italian. Nightlife here is fairly lively with bars and discos providing evening entertainment.

Despite its immense history, Kassiopi combines a wide range of modern facilities such as waterskiing and paragliding, as well as a diving center where you have the opportunity to take lessons and scuba expeditions for both adults and children, tennis courts, swimming pools and motor boat hire.

Furthermore, it is worth visiting the church of Panagia Kassiopitissa, which possibly has been built on the place of an ancient temple dedicated to Zeus Kassius.

CAVES

In the northeast of Palia (Old) Perithia there is a large cave that was created by subsidence off the top of a hill. It was created by sedimentation across 100m of the hill and about 180m across its width. Above the level of sedimentation there is a rather steep hill of about forty to fifty meters tall. In the southwest direction of the cave lays its entrance leading to a 90m deep cave with a width of 120m.

The roof of the cave is naturally decorated by stalactites and its height decreases as you move deeper inside the cave.

During the summer, flocks of sheep find shelter from the hot sun inside the cave where a small stream of water overflows from the ground, turning most of the cave into a swamp.

The locals call the cave Peristerograva or Grava, due to the feral pigeons nesting in it. Lower down the hill there is a cave much smaller in size which is called "Kato (Lower) Grava" by the locals. It is believed that there is a joining path between the two caves.

Roda

Roda is a lovely small fishing village, situated 38km Northwest of Corfu town (Kerkyra), on the northern tip of the Ionian Islands. Roda has one of the longest sandy beaches with shallow waters and is safe for swimming. The beach stretches for 4km along the length of the village and has been awarded with a blue flag.

Unlike some of the other resorts, most of the original buildings still stand, giving Roda a unique quality and perseverance of its history. Across its blue waters, lies the amazing coastal mountain range of Albania and right behind it stands Pantokratoras, the highest point on the island of Corfu, where, if you choose to make your way to the top, you will be rewarded with an amazing view.

On the sea-front there is a water sports school where you can try sports or hobbies such as scuba diving, cycling, boat rides, water sports, horse riding, etc. All these types of activities are available both for groups and personal lessons/rent-outs.

Furthermore, for some driving fun there are mini go-karts available. There are many shops, mini markets, restaurants, taverns and bars for each and every taste. An ideal destination for everybody regardless of age, Roda is perfect for long beautiful walks amongst nature due to the fact that it boasts a flat landscape easy to walk along.

Whilst walking in the countryside, there will always be a surprise around the corner, whether it is a heavily-laden donkey returning after a hard day of work in the fields or a shepherd taking his siesta below the nurturing shade of the olive groves. You may also come by a small church or monastery on the peak of the mountain with the most magnificent views over the island facing the blooming flowers during the beginning of the Corfiot Spring. A small place that proudly offers everything you could wish for, Roda provides the perfect choice for vacation with friends, family, companion or even alone.

P.S. It is well worth seeing Saint George’s church in the middle of the village, dated back to the 17th century, as well as the unique ruin of the temple of Apollo, dated from 5th century B.C.
